IOWA FEATURE FILM | DYING FOR METH | POOR MAN'S DOPE

POOR MANS DOPE

Poor Mans Dope

Seven years ago Matt Farnsworth and Diane Foster visited Iowa for the purpose of scouting locations for their upcoming film IOWA. During their visit they met and befriended a young meth addict who had been burned over 60% of her body in a rolling meth lab explosion. It turned out that her mother and husband were also meth addicts but her stepfather and sister were not. It also turned out that she was pregnant with a little boy. Mr. Farnsworth and Ms. Foster spent hundreds of hours documenting the dynamics of this family and the effect meth has had on those dynamics. Poor Mans Dope was the result. While footage of this same family is also presented in Dying for Meth there are significant differences in the content, the way it is presented and the purposes of each.

Poor Mans Dope is a 38 minute documentary that has been in competition at numerous film festivals and was a winner at the DV Awards in Park City, Utah in 2005. It is NOT an anti-meth video and is NOT a meth prevention video. It is also NOT censored and was produced purely as a source of entertainment for audiences. The DVD Poor Mans Dope is for individual viewing and is not recommended for young viewers.
